He has been practising Wim’s method for over 3 years and has had extensive training over those years with Wim himself. Miriam Lancewood

Wednesday Oct 09, 2019
SOUND QUALITY DISCLAIMER: This interview was conducted over skype with a poor internet connection (thank you rural New Zealand). This does not take away from the fact that the content will have you hooked, we promise!
Introducing to you a very extraordinary woman – Miriam Lancewood. Nine years ago Miriam and her husband Peter decided to give up all of their worldly belongings and move into the New Zealand wilderness with nothing but a tent and bow and arrow. Together they wanted to learn how to hunt & survive in nature and discover what happens to the mind and body when you take away all comforts and live wildly amongst nature on earth. They live simply in a tent or hut and survive by hunting wild animals, foraging edible plants and using minimal supplies.
This quote sums Miriam up perfectly: ‘My life is free, random and spontaneous. This in itself creates enormous energy and clarity in body and mind.’
This is not an episode to miss. Art, Matilda & Miriam chat so beautifully about Miriam’s motivations to live in the wild; covering the effects on both the body and the mind. The conversation covers what life looks like when you live without a clock or technology but instead live by light hours, in silence and with ones thoughts. Miriam talks about the skills she has had to learn and the confidence she has found within because of this. Inspirational to say the least; Miriam’s story will have you wanting to pack your bags and head bush.

Dr Tony Fernando

Wednesday Oct 02, 2019
Dr Tony Fernando; a kaleidoscope of activity and a strong advocate of rest. He is an is an academic, award-winning teacher, cellist, cheap-eats foodie, Buddhist monk and reluctant ocean swimmer. Tony Fernando is a psychiatrist, sleep specialist, senior lecturer in psychological medicine at the University of Auckland, and compassion specialist who was temporarily ordained as a Buddhist monk.
This conversation is exactly what the doctor ordered for the somewhat crazy busy life we can find ourselves in – the yin to the yang. Matilda, Art and Tony talk in depth about mindfulness, all things compassion and everything you have always wanted to know about sleep. Oh yeah, and crispy pork.
Recently Tony started a weekly mindfulness and emotional balance programme for inmates at Mt Eden Corrections Facility in Auckland. We hear from Dr Fernando on the benefits that have been seen from this programme already.
Grab yourself a cup of tea, a warm sunny spot on the couch and some peace and quiet to enjoy the chat.

Thursday Sep 19, 2019
Matt has been meditating for over 10 years, and teaching meditation for six. He estimates he’s taught over 1,200 people this life-changing technique. As an independent teacher of Vedic meditation, and the founder of one of Sydney’s most successful meditation schools, Bondi Meditation Centre, Matt is a guy worth knowing about.
Art and Matilda sit down with Matt in Sydney and enjoy a conversation around meditation and spirituality which is not quite like one you have ever heard before (let’s just say the trio go deep, deep into these topics). The conversation covers a lot of ground; Matts journey into Vedic mediation and becoming a teacher (cue living on the side of a volcano in Bali), benefits of a mediation practice, creativity, living a fulfilling life, the power of intuition over the mind and so much more.
One thing for sure, Matts passion about making this ancient Vedic meditation knowledge accessible, relevant and enjoyable in modern life shines through in this chat!

Drew Harrisberg
Tuesday Jun 25, 2019
Tuesday Jun 25, 2019
Drew is an exercise physiologist, diabetes educator, sport scientist and most importantly a happy and healthy guy thriving with type 1 diabetes.
His world shifted when he was first diagnosed, however after making positive changes to the way he lives, eats, moves and approaches life, he can honestly say he’s happier and healthier today than he was before his diagnosis. So in a way you could say that diabetes gave him the gift of health.
Drews background as a health professional and his own personal triumph with managing diabetes has ignited a passion to share everything he knows. He has since set up ‘Drew’s Daily Dose’ an online resource that is much more than a platform about diabetes. It’s a home that inspires, empowers and enables people to thrive with diabetes, rather than simply live with it.
Drew chats to Art and Matilda about how he discovered he has diabetes, the signs and symptoms he had in the lead up, and how he has managed to lead an incredibly healthy life since the diagnosis. We talk all things exercise, why he stepped away from the keto diet, why he maintains a plant based diet, his morning ritual, and of course Dennis, Drews Instafamous rescue dog!

Dr Caryn Zinn & Professor Grant Schofield
Tuesday Jun 18, 2019
Tuesday Jun 18, 2019
Grant Schofield is Professor of Public Health, and Director of the Human Potential Centre at AUT Millennium. His research and teaching interests range from understanding and improving lifestyle behaviours such as sleep, nutrition, and physical activity, to wellbeing epidemiology and human performance. He maintains a "multi fluency” across psychology, physiology, public health, epidemiology, and human performance.
Professor Schofield takes a "think outside the box" approach to his work in tackling the big health problems of our times. He is known for challenging current beliefs in his field. His current project base and large group of talented postgraduate thesis students show an exciting range of these challenges.
Dr Caryn Zinn is a dietitian and academic at AUT. Her research and clinical practice focuses on whole food amidst a holistic lifestyle approach to health. She has co-authored 4 books as part of the What The Fat? Series.
To say that Grant and Caryn know their stuff is a bit of an understatement. In this episode Art & Matilda deep dive into nutrition with Grant and Caryn sharing what they have learnt (and unlearnt) throughout their careers. From the low fat farce, keto cowboys, fasting, veganism and functional food for medicine to the credibility of some ‘scientific’ studies and the importance of researching beyond the headlines. We cover some really interesting topics safe in the hands of academics who have the credentials to back up their claims.
If you have not already make sure you get your hands on a copy of their book here:
